ARETHA: QUEEN OF SOUL is a musical based on the life and amazing music of the queen of Soul Music herself, Aretha Franklin. Aretha follows Aretha from the death of her mother and her move to New York to start her professional career. After many years of having only radio hits, Aretha decides to create her own music which she calls SOUL MUSIC and travels to Muscle Shoals Studio to record her first hit record. Weaved into this musical drama is the rocky and explosive relationship between Aretha and her husband/manager Ted White. As Aretha’s career soars, her marriage hits the rocks and she must choose between fame and fortune and love.
