Carrie wants to return to her beloved hometown of Bountiful, Texas, one final time before she dies. While Ludie is at work and Jessie Mae is at the drugstore, Carrie escapes to the bus station and befriends a young woman named Thelma. Soulful Holiday 2 is an original Motown fairytale — embodies Cinderella’s courage, Christmas Carol’s redemption, and Hallmark’s heart — where the magic isn’t in a fairy godmother or a prince, but in music, memory, and community healing through song. Runs Dec 18, 19, 20 & 21.
Set in Detroit at Christmastime, Soulful Holiday is a heartwarming, music-filled modern fairytale about finding one’s voice amid doubt, loss, and change. The story follows Ella Starr, a shy young woman working as a cleaner in a once-famous recording studio run by Maxine Crumb, a retired Motown diva who’s bitter that her glory days have faded.
This original musical is a Starliite Production. Starlite shows are small cast and will also feature original pieces on the Star stage, and in the community.

Set in the turbulent 1950s, Memphis tells the story of Huey Calhoun, a white, free-spirited radio DJ from the wrong side of town, and Felicia Farrell, a talented Black singer with dreams of stardom. When Huey falls in love with Felicia’s voice—and with Felicia herself—he sets out to bring her music, the rhythm and blues sound of underground Memphis clubs, to mainstream radio.
As Huey’s fame grows, so does the tension between his bold ideas and the deeply rooted racial barriers of the era. Felicia’s career begins to take off, but the world isn’t ready for their love or for the sound they’re trying to share.
Packed with high-energy dance numbers, heart-pounding rock ‘n’ roll, and soulful ballads, Memphis is an inspiring story about passion, courage, and the power of music to bring people together—even when the world tries to keep them apart.
