Akeelah, an 11-year-old from South Los Angeles, discovers a remarkable talent. Instead of persuing their dreams, they begin to listen to family conflicts, school pressures, tv inputs, and everything else that comes from being 11 in Middle School.
Does Akeelah learn to overcome these pressures or succumb?

And the WINNER of “BEST OF THE FEST”, BEST PRODUCTION 2024 of the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival is….. Star Center Theatre - ONCE ON THIS ISLAND JR. CONGRATULATIONS to the cast, crew and all the supporters working behind the scenes. Not only did they give a magnificent performance, but the producers, staff reported on how the youth were so professional on and off stage. Thank you.
